Our Mission

The Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 15 JATC & Trust Fund is dedicated to excellence in vocational sheet metal training for the unionized sheet metal industry.

In order to provide a qualified workforce for our contractors and meet the changing needs of the sheet metal industry, we strive to provide the best possible education to all motivated individuals who have chosen to pursue a career in the sheet metal industry and to provide continuing education for journeypersons already working at the trade.

To accomplish this goal, we employ the best trained and qualified instructors and utilize the latest resources and training materials available.

 

Sheet Metal Workers’ Local 15 JATC

The Sheet Metal Workers Local 15 JATC is a Joint Labor-Management apprenticeship program that offers, not only free, but paid training to our apprentices. Our industry is in need of willing young men and women with the aptitude and desire to listen, learn and become skilled sheet metal craftsmen. The JATC selects apprentices based on qualifications without regard to sex, race or ethnicity, creed or nation origin.

 

Related Classroom Training

Apprentices are trained in all aspects of the Sheet Metal trade to ensure continued employability after graduating from the program. The JATC provides training in the following areas:

  • Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
  • Health and Safety
  • Architectural Sheet Metal
  • Welding
  • Air Conditioning Service Work
  • Testing, Adjusting and Balancing
  • Siding and Decking
  • Drafting
  • Plans and Specifications

All classes except for welding are held during the day. Apprentices are excused from work by the employer to attend training every three months, four times a year and are paid to attend classes.

After an apprentices 2nd year they have the option to specialize in three areas of our trade. An Apprentice may choose to be a Sheet Metal Mechanic, Air Conditioning Service Technician or an Industrial Welder.

 

On-The-Job Training

Apprentices are employed by a Union Sheet Metal contractor during the term of the apprenticeship to ensure that on-the-job training requirements are met. These union sheet metal jobs are the highest paid in the industry. In addition to an excellent wage our apprentices receive excellent benefits, such as:

After graduation our program you will be a Union Sheet Metal Journeymen. Our program provides 100% job placement. Job opportunities are almost endless. Many of our graduates work as:

  • Computer Aided Drafting (CAD Draftsmen)
  • Service Technicians
  • Business Owners

The Sheet Metal Workers Local 15 JATC is approved for Veteran Benefits. Military Veterans that qualify for Veteran benefits may receive a benefits directly to them during their term of apprenticeship.
